🚍Happy National School Bus Safety Week! 🚌

Each school day, millions of children safely ride school buses to and from school. The school bus is one of the safest vehicles on the road.

While the bus itself is designed for safety, children are most at risk when approaching or leaving it. That is why it is so important for every driver, parent, and student to stay alert and follow school bus safety laws. When you see a bus slowing down or stopping, please stop, watch carefully, and never try to pass.

Today, we celebrate our incredible Madison County School System Transportation team, who work tirelessly to ensure safe, dependable journeys for our students every single day.

Thank you for your dedication and care.

☕ CENTRAL PERK: A Little Coffee & A Lot of Community Love! ☕

School mornings can be hectic! Between getting everyone dressed, packed, out the door, and through the car rider line, a little extra kindness can make even the busiest mornings sweeter!

This morning, families and staff at Central School were greeted with a special surprise, courtesy of Limbaugh Orthodontics! Fresh coffee, served right in the car rider line! 🚙 ☕️

Limbaugh Orthodontics is an incredibly generous supporter of Madison County Schools. Time and again, their team demonstrates a genuine commitment to our schools, not simply through sponsorships, but through their willingness to say YES to creative ideas that bring people together and make our school communities stronger.

We are grateful for the generosity of Dr. Limbaugh and her team and the many ways they continue to invest in our students, employees, and families. Their support extends far beyond the classroom, and this morning was a perfect example of just how special that partnership is!

The Central community is a special place, and mornings like this are a wonderful reminder of why. There is a genuine sense of pride, connection, and appreciation for the families who make it what it is. We love seeing our schools think outside the box to celebrate the parents and families who support them every day.

A BIG thank you to Limbaugh Orthodontics for your continued generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment to Madison County Schools, and to Travelin' Tom's Coffee of N. Madison Co. for helping make this treat possible!

To the Central team, we love the way you find opportunities to show your families just how much they mean to you.

And a special shoutout to the Madison County High School football players and cheerleaders for helping welcome families through the car rider line! Our younger students look up to these big kids more than they probably realize. It made a special morning even better.

Great schools. Great families. Great community partners. Better Together. Madison County Schools.

🎈🚀 Taking STEM Education to New Heights at Sparkman High School! 🎈🚀

Sparkman High School students are reaching beyond the classroom and into the stratosphere through an incredible hands-on STEM experience that combines science, engineering, innovation, and collaboration!

Under the leadership of Mr. Scott Coonfare, students successfully launched a high-altitude weather balloon that soared an astonishing 87,645 feet into the stratosphere before bursting over Gadsden, Alabama!

Through The University of Alabama in Huntsville GEMINI program, funded by the Missile Defense Agency, our students are collaborating with students at Fort Campbell Middle School, located on the U.S. Army base in Kentucky.

Students developed team logos, formed scientific hypotheses, tracked real-time atmospheric data, and collaborated across state lines. This experience is giving students an opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world scientific research while developing critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.

And their work isn't finished! Students will combine their flight data with findings from Fort Campbell Middle School to complete their scientific study before presenting their research to aerospace and weather engineers at UAH this December!

Behind opportunities like these are educators who see what's possible for their students and go the extra mile to make it happen.

Mr. Coonfare is one of those educators. Known for his passion for STEM education and his commitment to connecting students with opportunities beyond the classroom, he continues to find innovative ways to help students discover their interests, explore future careers, and see themselves as the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.

We are incredibly proud of our Sparkman Senators, their collaboration with Fort Campbell Middle School, and Mr. Coonfare's dedication to making STEM education an experience students will carry with them long after graduation!

🏐 PARENTS VS. TEACHERS | STUDENTS WIN 💙

We've all seen students take on teachers in a friendly school competition, but Sparkman Intermediate School put a fun twist on this tradition by inviting PARENTS to take the court!

As part of the school's first 9 Week behavior incentive, parents and faculty faced off in a volleyball game that brought smiles, cheers, and serious competition! And while the teachers gave it their all, the parents walked away with an easy victory!

As fun as it is to keep score... the real winners were the students!

There is something wonderful about seeing students proudly welcome their parents into the place where they spend so much of their time, watching them interact with their teachers and administrators, and knowing the people who support them at home are cheering them on at school, too.

We believe some of the best school experiences are those shared with families. Our goal is for all families to feel welcomed, connected, and involved in their child's education, not only in the classroom but also in the celebrations, milestones, and moments that make school special.

We never take for granted the parents and families who give their time and presence to support our schools. THANK YOU! We know schedules are busy and time is valuable, which makes moments like these even more special. Just look at the smiles... they say it all.

Well done, Sparkman Intermediate School! Thank you for finding a creative way to celebrate students while bringing families and educators together. Congratulations to the Cougars who earned this celebration, and a special thank you to the parents who showed up ready to play and be part of the fun!

We are proud to celebrate PACE Academy’s Mrs. Nicole Higginbotham, who was recognized as a FOX54 News Top Teacher!

Mrs. Higginbotham is a tenth-year educator who has spent the last four years teaching math to students in grades 7 through 12 at PACE Academy. She brings patience, compassion, and a commitment to helping students overcome challenges, build confidence, and recognize their ability to succeed.

PACE Academy serves as Madison County Schools’ alternative education program, providing a structured, supportive learning environment rooted in our shared belief that every student is capable of growth and success. Through individualized support, guidance, and restorative practices, PACE Academy helps students remain engaged in their education, strengthen academic and behavioral skills, and successfully transition back to their home schools.

Mrs. Higginbotham embraces this mission by working closely with students to identify gaps in their learning, provide individualized instruction, and help them get back on track academically while building the confidence they need to succeed. She understands that success in math is about more than solving equations. It is also about helping students believe in themselves and their ability to learn.

One of her favorite moments is seeing students successfully transition back to their schools. Her hope is that every student leaves PACE with greater confidence, knowing they are capable of learning, growing, and succeeding.

Mrs. Higginbotham, we are so proud of the care and dedication you bring to your students and the belief you have in each child’s potential. Your work reflects the commitment our educators demonstrate across every campus in Madison County Schools, investing in students, meeting them where they are, and helping them move forward. You represent PACE Academy and Madison County Schools with excellence.

Thank you to FOX54 and Ms. Keneisha Deas for recognizing Mrs. Higginbotham and shining a light on the important work our educators do to support students at every stage of their educational journey!

Today, we celebrate National Coaches Day by thanking our coaches across Madison County Schools.

Coaches do more than teach the fundamentals of a sport. They model perseverance, teamwork, and integrity. They shape the character and confidence of students they lead.

Their investment of time, energy, and heart extends far beyond practice schedules and game days, leaving a lasting impact that reaches well into our classrooms and communities.

To every coach in our district, thank you for the example you set and the countless ways you inspire our student-athletes to grow, learn, and lead. Your work represents the best of who we are— Better together, MCSS. 💙

We invite you to take a moment to thank a coach today, in the comments or to them directly, for the positive influence they’ve had on your life or your student’s life.

Congratulations to Mrs. Desiree Miller from New Market School on receiving a National Space Club scholarship to support her pursuit of National Board Certification!

Mrs. Miller was recognized this morning during the Madison County Board of Education Work Session, where Jennifer Douthit, from The Schools Foundation, presented the scholarship check and joined us in celebrating this exciting recognition.

Making the morning even more special, Mrs. Miller’s husband surprised her by attending to see her recognized! Educators like Mrs. Miller continually invest in their craft, dedicating time beyond the classroom to learning, growing, and creating the best educational experience for their students. We are proud when that dedication is recognized publicly and grateful when the families who support them along the way have the opportunity to see their commitment celebrated, too.

Thank you to the National Space Club for investing in educators like Mrs. Miller and to our partners at The Schools Foundation for supporting our team.

Congratulations, Mrs. Miller! We are proud to celebrate you and wish you the very best as you continue your journey toward National Board Certification!
