Over the past several months, several members have completed NYS training courses.
Rosalia Bythewood-Saverino completed the NYS Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO) course in Greene County. This 79 hour course covers a multitude of topics including Personal protection equipment (PPE), exterior fire protection, fire extinguishers, ground ladders, hazardous materials, and more.
Kerry Bythewood-Saverino and Michael Arnold completed the NYS BEFO course and the NYS Interior Firefighting Operations (IFO) course in Ulster County. The NYS BEFO class was 79 hours and the NYS IFO class was an additional 50 totaling 129 hours. In addition to the topics covered in the NYS BEFO class, Kerry and Mike learned self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) use and emergencies, firefighter survival techniques, modern fire control, building search, victim removal, ventilation methods, and more.
Tyler Eminowicz completed the NYS 32-hour Swiftwater/Flood Rescue Technician course at the State Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany, NY. This intense course teaches students to work in a moving water environment utilizing multiple water rescue techniques to include throw bag rescues, go rescues, rope systems in water, wading, boat based rescues, and more. This specific class was a little different as 1st. Assistant Chief Brendan Nugent was one of the instructors for the course and had the opportunity and pleasure to teach one of his own members.
We would like to thank these members for their hard work and dedication to continue to learn.
