🔥 2-Alarm Structure Fire — Sycamore Road

At approximately 12:40 a.m. today, Hurricane Fire & Rescue crews responded to a residential structure fire on Sycamore Road.

The first-due engine, staffed with three on duty firefighters, arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from a garage apartment and extending into the home. Through a coordinated and aggressive fire attack, crews prevented the fire from spreading throughout the entire residence.

A second alarm was requested because of the size of the residence and the fire conditions encountered upon arrival.

Twenty-five firefighters from Hurricane, Culloden, Milton, Bancroft, St. Albans West Side, and the City of St. Albans responded. All occupants were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

🪢 Advanced Rope Operations Training

Yesterday evening, Hurricane Fire & Rescue crews continued developing their advanced rope rescue skills. Building on training conducted earlier in the week, firefighters faced the added challenge of operating over embankments and hillsides in darkness.

This realistic training strengthens firefighter readiness by improving teamwork, technical skills, decision-making, and confidence in difficult conditions. Practicing in low-light environments helps ensure our members can respond safely and efficiently to emergencies at any time, protecting the public when every second matters.

🔥 TRAIN TOGETHER. RESPOND TOGETHER.

Over the past two days, members of Hurricane Fire & Rescue and the Putnam County Fire Department trained side-by-side on a variety of high-demand fire and rescue operations.

Crews worked through multiple forcible entry techniques, tackled challenging rope rescue scenarios at Hurricane City Park, and finished with pump operations flowing ladder pipes.

These hands-on training evolutions build confidence, strengthen coordination, and ensure our crews are prepared to operate together when conditions are difficult and every second counts.

Strong departments are built through consistent training, teamwork, and a commitment to being ready for the next call.
