Chief Lovelace of the Hurt Police Department recently attended Virginia’s first emergency preparedness summit in Richmond. Governor Abigail Spanberger joined approximately 1,000 representatives from public safety, critical infrastructure, healthcare, and higher education to discuss how to strengthen the Commonwealth’s readiness for emergencies.
This opportunity allowed us to share ideas for better serving our community and people across Virginia. We also built valuable connections and friendships, united by one goal: improving emergency services throughout the Commonwealth.

Boil water notice is no longer in effect. Water system is back to normal operation. Water tested normal.

10/02/2026

Update 10/2 - The boil water notice can't be lifted until the water is tested. The testing may be completed by early next week. Water will have to be sent to the labs and we have to wait for the results back. We will notify you when there is change. Please see the attached Boil Notice Document for detailed information regarding water handling.
