The Hutchinson-Reno County Emergency Communications center (HRCEC) went on-line October 28, 1983.
The creation of HRCEC consolidated dispatching for all emergency services in Reno County. Prior to 1983 dispatching for the various emergency services was done independently by each agency at several locations. This made it difficult to coordinate services in those instances when multiple agencies were involved. A consolidation of the dispatching for all agencies made coordination easier. It also

The final puzzle piece that helps make our teams run - Our Quality Assurance Team.
You will not hear them on the radio or phone - their jobs are only to do quality assurance on our phone calls and radio traffic - Big Job!
They are hear to make sure that we are following our Emergency Dispatch Protocols and policy/procedures for the department. Thank You!

As we start wrapping up Telecommunications Week we still have a couple of other team members to say Aloha to.
First up is our supervisor team. You will find them training, working the console, doing supervisor stuff and overseeing daily operations in the communications center.

One last post for this evening. We had some really cool visitors this evening. Thank you to the Reno County EMS crews for stopping by and dropping off a basket full of goodies for us and spending some time in the center.
