OK, I'm starting a new, huge project and I'm gonna need the help of everyone who was around when we made The Ghost Of Inman High. I'm going to create a series that shares that journey from the writing of the script to the special effects to any photos anyone has of what we did. Interviews with actors and helpers...all of it. I think that because we did this back when none of the amazing tools of today existed people might be interested in our MacGyver approach to getting shots, camera angles etc. Hit me up if you'd like to be a part of this project!

The other day, I was talking with Clint Corby, a very brilliant school leader, and Principal of Hillsboro Middle and High School in Hillsboro Kansas. And for a few minutes, we had another go-round at a topic that we seem to always wrestle with: How much of a kid’s day should be spent in a Project/Problem Based Learning environment? So you do PBL at your school? AWESOME!
Where would you say you are on the PBL-implementation continuum? And if you think we maybe ought NOT to do PBL the majority of the day for all kids, let's talk! I have some curious questions for you. 🙂

I'll ask questions such as, what skills do kids develop and practice inside a PBL unit that they DON'T need for their lives? And what skills do we feel they CAN'T get inside PBL that takes them into a successful life?
Seriously, I'm down to hold this convo with anyone who would care to wrestle out the topic with me. I think I know my position, but am truly willing to be curious.

This is my New Hampshire friend John Fladd who is an AMAZING teacher and a terrific human being and friend.

I was lucky enough to get to co-teach with him a lot when I was still in the classroom, he in New Hampshire, me in Kansas. This virtual thing is not new for us.

Swipe through to see the second picture and the explanation of what’s going on with his face here.

If anyone has ever heard of the “Destiny and Diarrhea” PBL unit that I’ve talked about, this is the guy who did all the work to make that happen for his kids. And my kids. I don’t think he’s actually on Insta. But you should go find him on Twitter and tell him I sent you.

All. Morning. Long.
Luckily the meetings were ALL with good people doing good things with teachers for kids.
