๐ช Red Ribbon Week ๐ช
Get ready to celebrate Red Ribbon Week at Howard Norman Elementary from October 26โ30!
This year's theme is "Be a Hero. Make a Difference."
To highlight the importance of making healthy choices, students can look forward to themed dress-up days and optional daily Hero Missions throughout the week:
โค๏ธ Monday, Oct 26: Wear a cap or hat! "Put a cap on drugs!"
โค๏ธ Tuesday, Oct 27: Sock Day! Wear fun or crazy socks. "Sock it to unhealthy choices!"
โค๏ธ Wednesday, Oct 28: Wear orange! "Orange you glad YOU make healthy choices?"
โค๏ธ Thursday, Oct 29: Wear a sports jersey, team shirt, athletic wear, or school spirit shirt! "Team Up for Healthy Choices!"
โค๏ธ Friday, Oct 30: Dress up as your favorite book character! "Healthy Choices are part of my story!"
Hero Missions are optional at-home activities designed to help your child connect with each dress-up day. Families are welcome to use materials they already have at homeโno materials will be provided by the school, and teachers will not be collecting the activities. If your child is excited to share what they created, they can bring it to their school counselor!
DID YOU KNOW?
Children whose parents regularly talk with them about making safe, healthy choices are significantly less likely to engage in risky behaviors as they grow upโyet many families aren't sure how to start these early conversations.
Red Ribbon Weekยฎ (October 23โ31) is a great opportunity to begin building those positive habits at home! This yearโs theme is "Be a Hero. Make a Difference."
At school, we are focusing on helping students understand what it means to take care of their bodies, make smart choices, and be a hero for their own health. You can continue the conversation at home by talking with your child about staying healthy, safe, and drug-free.
