Williamson County Emergency Services invited us out this past Saturday evening for their annual Trunk-or-Treat! 🎃

We loved seeing so many families and fun costumes, and connecting with our fellow emergency services partners from around the county.

And of course the crew had to get a photo with our new friend Jacob, one of the Clydesdales with the Texas Department of Public Safety Mounted Patrol Unit!

Thanks everyone for coming out and kicking off Spooky Season with us! 👻

We promise this isn't just an excuse to post this picture of a cute dog in a firefighter costume...

Okay, maybe it is. But since we've got your attention, let's talk about Halloween costume safety!

🎃 Pick costumes that fit well and won't cause trips and falls.

🔦 Provide children with flashlights to carry for lighting or glow sticks as part of their costume.

👀 If your child is wearing a mask, make sure the eye openings are large enough for them to see clearly.

🔥 Keep costumes away from candles and open flames.

P.S. We met this little guy at Hutto Olde Tyme Days this past weekend, and he was too cute not to share. ❤️

If you’re out at Hutto Olde Tyme Days today, come see us! We’re the first aid booth, but you don’t have to need first aid to stop by and say hi.

We’ve got stickers and little stick-on mustaches for the kids (...who are we kidding, the adults love them too).

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and if one fails, a fire can spread quickly.

HAVE YOU HEARD THE BIG NEWS IN HUTTO?! 👀

That's right, it's Fire Prevention Week and we're talking about lithium-ion battery safety! 🔋

Today we're highlighting the warning signs that your battery may be overheating or damaged. If your device battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke, stop using it immediately and, if it's safe to do so, move it away from anything flammable. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire.

We promise your phone doesn’t need a soft, comfy bed to rest and recharge. In fact, charging your phone on a bed, couch, pillow, or blanket can be dangerous. The same goes for tablets, laptops, and other rechargeable devices.

Soft surfaces can trap heat and block airflow while your device is charging, which can cause the battery to overheat and increase the risk of a fire. 📱🔥

Always let your devices charge on hard, flat surfaces like tables, desks, or the bare floor.
