🚧 Fall Sewer Construction Season Begins September 8

Following the Labor Day holiday, sewer crews will return to active construction in Centerville, Marstons Mills, and Osterville as work continues on the Town’s sewer expansion projects.

This fall’s work will include both daytime and overnight construction, with traffic impacts on portions of Phinney’s Lane, Shootflying Hill Road, Oldham Road and Route 28.

Construction zones and traffic patterns will change as work progresses, and additional work areas are anticipated later this fall.

🚧 Centerville Sewer Construction: One Final Push Before Summer

Sewer construction activities along Route 28, Shootflying Hill Road, Old Stage Road, and within the area of Mother's Park are expected to conclude for the season by Friday, June 26.

Before crews leave the project area, temporary restoration activities will take place over the next two weeks, including:

✔️ Temporary paving
✔️ Roadway patching
✔️ Line striping
✔️ Loam and seeding
✔️ Site cleanup and equipment removal

🚗 NOTE: Paving will occur overnight on Route 28 and is scheduled during daytime hours on Shootflying Hill Road. Line striping for both areas will occur overnight.

⚠️ Motorists should expect periodic delays, localized road closures, and temporary traffic pattern adjustments as this work is completed. Please slow down, follow posted signage, and use caution when traveling through active work zones.

Cape Cod Drought Status Has Improved 💧

As a result, non-essential outdoor water restrictions have been eased for Hyannis Water System customers, here's what you need to know ⤵

While conservation measures remain in place, the updated restrictions are less stringent than those required under the previous drought level.

Here's what has changed under the updated Level 1 Mild Drought restrictions:

🌱 Outdoor watering using sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems is now permitted one day per week.

Odd-numbered addresses may water on odd-numbered calendar days.
Even-numbered addresses may water on even-numbered calendar days.

💦 Outdoor watering is permitted only during the following hours: 5:00 PM to 9:00 AM

🌷 Residents may continue watering lawns, gardens, flowers, and ornamental plants using hand-held hoses, drip irrigation, and buckets.

📣 MEETING NOTICE: Centerville Village Sewer Expansion Project - South Phase

🗓 IN-PERSON on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM

📍LOCATION: Barnstable Adult Community Center (825 Falmouth Road, Hyannis)

This project will expand sewer service south of Route 28 in Centerville, including:

🔹 Old Stage Road, from Route 28 to Main Street, Centerville
🔹 Main Street, Centerville, from Old Stage Road to South Main Street
🔹 Craigville Beach Road, from South Main Street to the Centerville River Bridge
🔹 Old Post Road, from Old Stage Road to Phinney’s Lane
🔹 Park Avenue, from Bacon Lane to Main Street, Centerville
🔹 Bacon Lane; Maple Avenue; and Linden Avenue

Construction is anticipated to commence in the Fall of 2026.

Staff from the Barnstable Department of Public Works will provide a presentation on the project and answer general questions from the public.

🚧 Public Meeting Notice – Phinney’s Lane Neighborhoods Sewer Expansion 🚧

The Town of Barnstable invites residents to attend an informational meeting on sewer design plans for the Phinney’s Lane Neighborhoods Sewer Expansion Project.

This project will expand sewer service to residential neighborhoods east and west of Phinney’s Lane, with construction anticipated Fall 2026 through Fall 2029.
