๐บ๐ธ AMVETS HAWAII AWARDED $683,905 VA SU***DE PREVENTION GRANT
AMVETS Hawaii is proud to announce that the AMVETS Hawaii Service Foundation has received a $683,905 FY27 award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Su***de Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP).
This one-year grant will strengthen our community-based su***de prevention efforts across Honolulu County, with a goal of serving 150 Veterans through outreach, screening, case management, Veteran peer support, su***de-prevention education, stability support, and connections to VA and community resources.
The mission is especially important because VAโs FY27 Grantee Toolkit reports that 61% of Veterans who died by su***de in 2023 were not receiving VHA care in the year of, or year before, their death. SSG Fox SPGP_Grantee Toolkit_FY27.pdf
Our focus is simple: reach Veterans where they are, build trust before a crisis occurs, and make sure no Veteran has to navigate the path to support alone.
This work will bring Veterans, families, peer support, community organizations, and VA partners together to strengthen the network of support available in our community.
