845AM Update: The latest morning update from the Storms Prediction Center has spread higher risks for storms further to the southeast into Tuesday morning.

There remains quite a bit of uncertainty in the forecast and this has been an extremely challenging weather pattern to forecast. That said, there are considerably more signals this morning pointing to one or more stronger clusters of storms moving through after 10pm into early Tuesday.

That said this is not a "everyone will see lots of rain" type of event and your local precipitation chances may remain low due to the uncertainty on where storms will form. This is why it's critical to continuing monitoring the forecast.

Extreme Heat Warning
EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING
Extreme Heat Warning issued July 20 at 12:56AM CDT until July 20 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110
expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Iowa, northeast
Nebraska, and southeast South Dakota.

* WHEN...From noon today to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
