Today is Autism Awareness Day, and we want to highlight Project Home Safe—a free program from the Idaho Falls Police Department that supports families who have a loved one who may wander due to Autism, Dementia, or a similar condition. By sharing key information ahead of time, officers can respond quickly if someone goes missing, communicate with them appropriately, and bring them home safely.

This information also helps during other emergencies, like a car accident, when you may not be able to explain your loved one’s diagnosis, calming strategies, or who to call. Having it on file ensures first responders can support them in the best way possible.

Families are encouraged to share whatever information they feel comfortable providing and update it each year with a new photo and any important changes. You can enter participant information here:

Help save lives during the Battle of the Badges blood drive by donating at any participating blood bank from April 1 through April 29!

Battle of the Badges is a friendly competition between the Idaho Falls Fire Department and the Idaho Falls Police Department. For every registered blood donation, the team selected will receive 1 point. The department with the most points at the end of the drive will take home a trophy and year-long bragging rights!

Simply scan one of the QR codes to find donation locations and to ensure your donation counts toward the department of your choice.

This drive also carries a special meaning as it supports the 6th Annual Help Jack Give Back Blood Drive, held in honor of 10-year-old Jack, who survived a life-threatening trauma in Island Park thanks to rapid emergency response and critical blood donations. He is serving as the spokesperson for this effort and will be part of the final day celebration.

Battle of the Badges wraps up with a final donation event on April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at EIRMC North Idaho Falls ER, where the winning department will be announced.

To help boost critical donations, double points will be awarded for O-negative donors, rookie donors, Double Red donations, and any donations made on April 29.

Be sure to scan a team’s QR code, find a donation location, and cast your vote!

đź’™ Celebrating National Social Work Month đź’™

Did you know we have a social worker at IFPD? During National Social Work Month, we would like to recognize and thank Dallan for the important work he does in our community.

At IFPD, we practice a “co-responder” model where a social worker, Dallan, responds alongside officers to help individuals and families who may be experiencing mental health crises, trauma, homelessness, substance abuse, or other difficult life situations. While our officers all have training in this area, Dallan’s expertise as a social worker means that he is an additional resource for our officers as they work to better our community. He helps connect with people who are struggling or in crisis and helps guide them toward services, both during the initial call and through follow-up contacts, that can make a lasting difference.

By working closely with our officers, Dallan assists people in receiving the help they need. His work not only supports those in crisis but also strengthens relationships between law enforcement and the community we serve.

Thank you, Dallan, for your compassion, dedication, and commitment to helping others. We appreciate the positive impact you make every day.

👏 Please join us in thanking Dallan for the incredible work he does for our community!
