'Every Idahoan will feel the impact': Worst-ever winter signals 'rough' water year - East Idaho News 04/11/2026

Great article below—Make it required reading—even for the kids. Or, review it at the dinner table or in your staff meeting. A low water year impacts everyone, so every drop matters.

Consider keeping the lawn yellow until May. Other ideas: water less, mow less often, only run full loads of laundry and dishes, don’t let the water run when brushing teeth or handwashing dishes, and NEVER let water from the hose or sprinklers flow down the gutter.

'Every Idahoan will feel the impact': Worst-ever winter signals 'rough' water year - East Idaho News BOISE (Idaho Statesman) — Idaho’s water supply is typically coded in industry acronyms: CFS, SWE, KAF. This winter, the grim facts were written plainly on the landscape — in brown hillsides, dry peaks and the early blooms of spring. Now, as Idaho’s irrigation season begins in earnest, expert...

Linden Bateman was a gentleman, a scholar, an artist, a history buff, a self-educated expert on Abraham Lincoln, an educator, a public servant, a volunteer, an inspiration, and a friend. His well-spent life enriched so many others. Idaho Falls was just plain lucky that he lived here. Everyone who knew him can probably still hear the boyish excitement in his voice and the kindness that just poured out of him. I cannot visit the Lincoln auditorium in the Idaho State Capitol without smiling and remembering Representative Linden Bateman‘s efforts to to bring that project forward. Linden you are a treasure, and your positive influence will be felt for generations to come. Farewell

Big news for Idaho Falls and for Idaho’s energy future!

Today, I had the honor of attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Antares Industries as they opened their new office in downtown Idaho Falls. This was a historic moment for our community and for the future of advanced nuclear energy in America.

Antares is a leading company in micro-nuclear reactors, and they chose Idaho because of their strong partnership with the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). Earlier this year, Antares and INL signed a $40 million partnership, and now they have decided to make Idaho Falls a permanent home. This shows the confidence they have in our people, our talent, and our future.

The event included remarks from Congressman Mike Simpson, DOE-ID’s Bob Boston, and INL Director John Wagner. Antares CEO Jordan Bramble shared that Idaho is not only the birthplace of America’s nuclear energy—it is also becoming the center of its rebirth.

Antares has already raised $130 million in private investment. They expect to have a test reactor operating by July 2026, and by the end of 2027 they plan to produce clean electricity for private customers. Their micro-reactors are being designed for use here on Earth and even in space.

Idaho is truly on the nuclear fast track, and this momentum will bring new jobs, new technology, and new opportunities to our communities.

I was proud to be there today to witness this milestone. The future is bright—and it’s happening right here in Idaho Falls.
