Liberty = Limited Government

This is my page to discuss that concept.

I probably shouldn't, but I gotta get on my soap-box for just a second.
-
Listening to all the "victorious" politicians on the radio this morning, it really annoys me how they constantly refer to it all as a "hard fought battle", and pat their teams on the back for all the "hard work" of the campaign.
-
Maybe it's just semantics, but it seems like only a real politician could refer to things like putting up some signs and talking to people as "hard work". I'm sorry, but I consider hard work to be things like moving sprinkler pipe, framing a roof, or building a business.
-
Let's try and remember that technically, we didn't really "battle" or "race" for anything, we didn't "earn" our position, and we shouldn't now refer to ourselves as "leaders" who are over others. We threw our hat in the ring and the voters made their own choice, asked us to represent them, and placed a little trust in us.
-
The work starts AFTER the election. We've been picked to be servants and representatives of the people; not masters who worked hard to earn our own positions.
-
Please help me avoid talk of "winning" or "losing" an election, or phrases about "working hard" to get elected, because I think that talking about elections in those terms is kind of insulting to the people who made their own choices.

Black student group vows bloodshed over Constitution 11/13/2015

Perfect example here.

The true purpose of those powerful forces who push this kind of civil unrest from behind the scenes are on full display.

They want to destroy our Constitution.

Ben Carson Now Backs Amnesty for Illegals | Restoring Liberty 10/28/2015

I don't agree with all of Carson's positions, but he's actually still high on my list.

If we're still following the U.S. Constitution, then the President is not a king. He doesn't write law, and he doesn't get to do whatever he wants. His personal opinions on issues are not nearly as important as we keep making them out to be.

Technically, we should be voting for a president based on how we feel about his moral character; not just the list of his personal stances on individual issues over which he doesn't have the final say.

A man of good character (which Carson seems to be) will honor his oath of office and faithfully execute the law. Then we can go back to putting our focus where is should be --- Congress.

White House endorses budget deal, asks Congress to pass it 10/27/2015

Deal ? ? ?

Why does everyone think that Congress needs to "cut a deal" or negotiate with the president over the budget? ? ?

The budget is congress's responsibility; not anyone else's.

The President has a responsibility to spend that money and carry out the things in that budget. If he wants to veto the bill, then he will have no money to spend and nothing to do.
