Remember when Abigail Spanberger💯🤡 said she would not redistrict Virginia while she was campaigning to be Governor?
On August 25, 2025, the Democratic nominee for governor at the time promised Virginia voters she had no plans to touch the state’s congressional maps.
“Have no plans to gerrymander the state maps ahead of the 2026 midterms."
"Short answer is no. Um certainly, Virginia by constitutional amendment has a new redistricting effort that was put in place."
"And first utilized after the 2021 redistricting. Certainly I’ve been watching with interest what other states are doing. But I have no plans to redistrict Virginia.”
That was her public position less than three months before the November 4th election.
Virginia voters believed her and she beat Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears 57.6% to 42.2%
Yesterday, Spanberger won on her redistricting plan that gives Democrats 90% of the power in the state, essentially stripping Republicans of all but one House seat.
Many on the right see this as the same old story - Democrats tell voters what they want to hear, get the keys to the statehouse, then rewrite the rules to lock in more power.
Critics say redistricting isn't the only thing that Spanberger flip flopped on, in fact she made affordability the central promise of her 2025 campaign for governor, repeatedly telling voters she would work to lower costs for housing, healthcare, energy, and everyday expenses.
But 30 days after taking over Spanberger's Democrats started introducing bills to tax everything from Gym memberships & dog walking to electric lawn care equipment.
Directly after Abigail Spanberger was sworn in as Governor, democrats flooded the legislative docket with more than 50 new tax proposals.
This comes despite Spanberger promising to lower costs during her campaign, a promise that critics say she never planned on keeping.
Spanberger won the election on pledges to tackle affordability issues like healthcare, energy, and housing costs.
However, the 2026 General Assembly session has seen an avalanche of bills to get more money from taxpayers—at a time when Virginia has a $2.7 billion surplus and a large rainy day fund left by former Republican Governor Glen Youngkin.
Tax hikes proposed for middle class Americans in Virginia:
🟦A 4.3% tax on ride shares like Uber and Lyft, plus an additional 1.9% surcharge in Northern Virginia.
🟦Adding sales and use taxes to dog walking, grooming, and other companion animal care services.
🟦New taxes on gym memberships, recreation, fitness, and sports facilities.
🟦Imposition of sales tax on dry cleaning and laundry services.
🟦Taxes on vehicle and engine repairs, as well as general repairs or alterations to tangible personal property.
🟦A new delivery fee taxing retail shipments from companies like Amazon, Uber Eats, FedEx, and UPS, particularly in Northern Virginia.
🟦Extension of sales tax to home repair, maintenance, landscaping, and cleaning services paid directly by homeowners.
🟦An 11% excise tax on fi****ms and ammunition sales.
🟦Creation of new income tax brackets: 8% on incomes between $600,000 and $1 million, and 10% on incomes over $1 million.
🟦A 3.8% net investment income tax on capital gains, dividends, and rental income for those with adjusted gross income over $500,000, potentially pushing Virginia's top rate on that income to 9.55% or higher when combined with other brackets.
New personal property tax on electric leaf blowers and other electric landscaping equipment.
🟦Taxes on storage facilities and self-storage units. Sales tax on admissions to concerts, events, and aesthetic planning services. Extension of sales tax to non-medical personal services, counseling, and travel planning.
🟦A new tax on digital personal property, including downloadable content that users own or access perpetually.
🟦Authorization for additional local sales taxes in all counties and cities.
🟦Higher hotel taxes and large employer taxes.
🟦A $500 sales tax on firearm suppressors.Critics warn this is what will happen across the nation if the Democrats win the midterms.

Utah Supreme Court Justice under investigation for ruling in favor of her 'boyfriend' Lawyer who was representing Democrats in a redistricting case that strips Republicans of a safe congressional seat.
Justice Diana Hagen is being accused of having an inappropriate personal relationship with a key lawyer for the Democratic Party.
According to officials, Hagen allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to attorney David Reymann while the redistricting case — League of Women Voters of Utah v. Utah State Legislature — was being argued before the court.
Reymann argued for the Democrats - who ultimately forced a new congressional map that turned a longtime safe Republican district into one that favors Democrats - who now have a real shot at winning in 2026.
July 11, 2024: Utah Supreme Court ruled - Hagen joins - to reverse a lower court on Proposition 4
October 2024: Hagen wrote the majority opinion upholding a lower court ruling that invalidated Amendment D
November 3, 2024: Hagen and her then-husband Tobin Hagen went to a social gathering at Reymann’s house.
December 6, 2024: The couple sits with Reymann at the Salt Lake County Bar holiday party.
February 2025: Tobin Hagen says he discovers text messages between his wife and Reymann that began as “silly” and turned “more suggestive.” He later tells Provo attorney Michael Worley about them during divorce proceedings.
March 2025: Hagen says she meets Reymann one-on-one in a public place for the first time in years to “catch up.”
April 2025: Hagen and her husband separate and later divorce.
Both Justice Hagen and Reymann strongly deny any inappropriate relationship or romantic involvement.

🚨BREAKING: Impeachment Effort Against Gov. Tim Walz & AG Keith Ellison BLOCKED in Deadlocked 8-8 Vote!
Minnesota House Rules Committee ties along party lines — Republicans push for accountability over massive fraud scandals (Feeding Our Future, billions in Medicaid/childcare losses), Democrats shut it down.
Walz skates free as he limps to the end of his term. No removal. No real consequences. Taxpayers foot the bill.
This is what one-party protection looks like.
