FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ilion Fire Department Announces New Battery-Powered Rescue Tool
The Ilion Fire Department is proud to announce the purchase of a Holmatro PCT 50 Combination Rescue Tool, made possible through the continued support of the Ilion Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Ilion Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, and the Ilion Ambulance Fund. The funding available through the Ambulance Fund was bolstered by generous donations made in memory of past member Len Hendrix, helping make this important equipment purchase possible.
The Holmatro PCT 50 is a modern, battery-powered combination extrication tool that adds to the department’s existing hydraulic rescue equipment. By reducing setup time and eliminating the need for hose deployment in certain situations, the tool allows firefighters to increase operational speed and expand overall rescue capabilities during emergency operations.
The PCT 50 provides cutting, spreading, and crushing capabilities, making it a valuable addition to the department’s vehicle extrication equipment. Its cordless design allows firefighters to quickly deploy the tool at an accident scene and operate without the limitations of hydraulic hose lines. The tool can also be utilized for forcible entry operations, providing firefighters with another option when gaining access to buildings, vehicles, doors, and other barriers.
The addition of the PCT 50 does not replace the department’s existing hydraulic extrication equipment. Instead, it expands the tools and capabilities available to firefighters, allowing crews to select the appropriate equipment for the situation and, when circumstances permit, begin operations more quickly.

The Ilion Fire Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Ilion Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Ilion Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, and the Ilion Ambulance Fund for their continued support of the department and its mission to provide emergency services to the community.
We also respectfully recognize the contributions made in memory of Len Hendrix. Len's dedication to the Ilion Fire Department and the community continues to have an impact through the support provided by those who donated in his memory.
We apologize for the delay in making this announcement. The department had originally planned to introduce the new tool and put it to use during our monthly extrication training in April. However, following the passing of one of our members, we felt that the timing was not appropriate for that training or for our members to take on an equipment demonstration at that time. We felt it was important to allow our members and department the time needed to deal with that loss appropriately.
We are now pleased to formally recognize the support that made this purchase possible and to place this new tool into service as another resource for the firefighters of the Ilion Fire Department.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support the Ilion Fire Department and our members.
