Domestic Violence Awareness Month

🎗 OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH 🎗

No one deserves abuse and anyone can be a victim. Chances are, someone in your life is a survivor of domestic violence, even if they have never shared their story.
Join us Thursday, October 15th to show your support for survivors of domestic violence / intimate partner violence by wearing/displaying purple (the color of domestic violence prevention).
The Imperial Police Department stands with victims of domestic violence.

Never Forget: 25 Years Later

Today, September 11th, 2026, marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks that took the lives of 2,977 innocent men, women, and children (8) at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in the skies over Pennsylvania.
Among those we lost were 423 first responders who ran toward danger to save others — including 72 law enforcement officers, 343 firefighters, and 8 EMS personnel. It remains the single deadliest day in the history of American law enforcement and the fire service.
The Imperial Police Department stands with departments across this nation today in honoring their memory and the memory of every life lost. We remain committed to the same oath they carried out until their final moments: to protect and serve.
Please take a moment today to reflect and to remember.

Road Construction Reminder

🚧 Road Construction continues along Hwy 6 from Broadway / Spur 15A east through town. 🚧
⚠️Highway 6 is currently designated one-lane and traffic is being directed by a pilot car and a temporary traffic light stationed at either end of construction. Expect wait times.
🛑Please follow all signage on the side roads and business parking lots entering Highway 6, which advise to "Wait for Pilot Car". DO NOT PROCEED until the pilot car passes in the direction you need to go, as you may be driving directly towards the oncoming traffic.
Thank you for your caution and patience when navigating construction zones.

🚧 Road Work Alert: Highway 61 (East Side) 🚧

Highway construction is underway today on Highway 61 on the east side of Imperial. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to plan ahead, slow down, and stay alert in the work zone.
Please help us keep our road crews safe — obey posted signage, reduce speed, and avoid distractions while driving through the area.

2026 Chase County Fair & Expo — Safety Reminders for the Remainder of the Week

The Chase County Fair & Expo continues through the weekend, with large crowds expected on the fairgrounds each night, with large crowds expected each night, the Imperial Police Department asks fairgoers to keep the following in mind:

Take a photo of your children on your phone as soon as you arrive at the fairgrounds. In the event of separation, a recent photo showing their clothing helps officers locate them quickly.

Establish a designated meeting location with your family in advance in case anyone becomes separated.

Pedestrian and vehicle traffic will be heavy in and around the fairgrounds each night. Motorists are asked to reduce speed and watch closely for pedestrians, including children.

No parking is permitted along the south side of 9th Street, from Broadway Street east to Longhorn, or on the west side of the fairgrounds near the entrance. Please observe all posted No
Parking signs in these areas. Vehicles parked in violation may be subject to citation or towing.

When parking on the fairgrounds, please park within designated spaces only. Do not triple-park or block other vehicles in — this creates a safety hazard and prevents other fairgoers from being able to leave.

If you plan to consume alcohol and will be leaving the fairgrounds afterward, please arrange a designated driver in advance.

National Night Out Thank You!

🚓 Thank you to everyone who attended National Night Out on August 4th and brought items for the Chase County Food Pantry! We collected three carts full of canned goods, dried goods, and toiletries!
Thank you to our first responder partners: Chase County Sheriff's Office, Imperial EMS, Imperial Volunteer Fire Department, and Nebraska Game and Parks for their participation and presence!
An additional thank you to the community partners who helped make this event successful:

🎫 Don't forget your food bank donations for the raffle (2 items = 1 ticket)! Raffle drawings begin at 6:30pm; must be present to win. 🎫

🚲 We have a variety of size bicycle helmets to give away, courtesy of Linda Maiden - State Farm. First come, first serve!!

📢 Community Notice Bulletin

Meet Patrik Rahula from Estonia. He'll be in Imperial going door to door selling Educational books and apps.
We want to thank Patrik for going through the proper process and has secured a valid permit in accordance with the Imperial Municipal Code. Chief Ostmeyer met with Patrik directly as part of that process — see the photo below.
A few reminders for residents:✅ Legitimate permit holders will have documentation on them — feel free to ask to see it.✅ If anyone comes to your door claiming to solicit without a permit, or if anything feels off, call our non-emergency line at 308-882-4748.

🚓 August 4th!! National Night Out with IPD!

⏰ Join us Tuesday, August 4th, from 5pm to 7pm at the City Square for National Night Out! ⏰
Come mingle with officers, deputies, Game & Parks officer, paramedics/EMS, and members of the Fire Department and enjoy free food and water, courtesy of Hill's Family Foods, Prairie State Communications, and Nutrien! 🌭🥤
🎫 There will be several interactive booths, free swag, drone and taser demonstrations, and we will be raffling off several items donated by our generous community partners, including Chase County Fair Concert tickets to Friday and Saturday night shows and gift cards / gift certificates to 509, Butler's Pantry, and Allo internet service,. (Must be present to win; drawings begin at 6:30pm). 🎫
Bring 2 items for the Chase County Pantry to receive 1 raffle ticket. The more items you bring, the more raffle tickets, the better the odds!! Scan the QR code or see the attached list image for current Pantry needs.
🚲We also received a very generous donation of several youth bicycle helmets! These will be available first-come-first-serve, so don't dawdle!!

🚧 Broadway Street Construction Update 7.27.26

Due to the threat of severe weather, our NDOT partners were unable to complete construction on Broadway Street today. Work will continue and wrap up tomorrow Tuesday July 28th, 2026🚧
Thank you to everyone who followed the posted signs and detours today — your cooperation helped keep our NDOT partners safe on the job site.
Please use caution as there are some bumps along the South traveling lane near 6th Street.
We'll continue to post updates as they become available. Thanks for your patience!
