We love the new mascot for Fire Prevention!

Pelly-Can is a new mascot the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal will use in its fire prevention education efforts.

Independence Fire has done quite a bit of training and work with Third District while we were participating in USAR Task Force 9. The Chiefs, officers, and members offer our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers to Chief Kimballs family and to our friends Third District Volunteer Fire Department in Jefferson Parish. Rest easy Chief we will take it from here.

Indy firefighters want to thank Coca-Cola for stopping by on this somber day and visiting us. They donated a bunch of Powerades and body armor. While we all take time to remember those lost on 9/11 we appreciate the visit and the donation.

🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, the Independence Fire Department pauses to remember and honor the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember the 343 firefighters of the FDNY, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority officers, and every civilian who never made it home.

We honor the courage of the men and women who ran toward the danger while others were running away. Their sacrifice, bravery, and selflessness will forever be a part of the fire service and our nation’s history.

As firefighters, we understand the meaning of service, sacrifice, brotherhood, and duty. We carry their memory with us every time we put on our gear and answer the call.

🕯️ We remember the lives lost.
🇺🇸 We remember the families forever changed.
🚒 We remember the heroes who gave everything.

United in Service. Forever in Our Hearts.

Independence Fire Department
Honor • Service • Community

🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸
