Montgomery County Announces Bridge Replacement and Road Closure on CR4700

Montgomery County Public Works will begin a bridge replacement project on CR4700, just north of CR6400, approximately five miles northeast of Sycamore.

Beginning Thursday, October 8, 2026, the bridge will be closed to all traffic while replacement work is underway. The closure is expected to last approximately 8–10 weeks, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Motorists who regularly travel this route should plan ahead and use an alternate route for the duration of the project. Drivers are encouraged to use caution near the construction area and observe all posted road closure and traffic signs.

Montgomery County appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this necessary infrastructure improvement is completed. Updates will be provided if the anticipated construction timeline changes.
