Dr. Matthew Jewell from the UW-Eau Claire Materials Science and Biomedical Engineering department presented to our Intro to Engineering class last week. Dr. Jewell discussed how biomedical engineers design products to meet the needs of patients and healthcare professionals, and then got the class involved in multiple experiments to investigate material properties. The class explored how silly putty, metals, and even LED lights behave differently when exposed to extreme temperatures. They even got a quick lesson on the Leidenfrost effect (ask your student to tell you about that one!)

Thanks Dr. Jewell for coming and sharing your knowledge and information about UW-Eau Claire’s programs with our students!
