Independence Kansas Police Department

A heartfelt thank you to the staff and students at Jefferson School for thinking of us and bringing us some delicious brownies. ❤️

The note that came with them meant just as much as the brownies themselves. The work our officers and dispatchers do isn’t always easy, and there are days that are especially difficult. Knowing that our community sees us, supports us, and appreciates what we do means more than we can say.

Thank you, Jefferson School!

Another accomplishment to add to an already impressive career! 👏

Congratulations to Officer Furr on graduating from the police academy!

Officer Furr is no stranger to serving his community. With several years of Fire/EMS experience and years of part-time law enforcement experience, he brought a wealth of knowledge and experience with him into the department.

Last Friday we got to celebrate not only his graduation, but the dedication and commitment that brought him to this point. We’re proud to have him as part of our department and look forward to watching him continue to grow and serve.

Congratulations, Officer Furr!

We are aware of the power outage causing issues on the west side of town. Evergy is en route to attempt to correct the issue.

This has caused the light at Peterpan and Main to go down. Please drive through this area with extreme caution and pay attention to cars around you in the intersection! We are trying to get these fixed as soon as possible.
