๐ŸŽ€ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Indialantic Police Department stands with everyone affected by breast cancerโ€”those facing a diagnosis, survivors, and the families and caregivers beside them. We honor those we have lost and recognize the strength of those continuing their fight.

To everyone touched by breast cancer: you have our support, this month and always. ๐Ÿ’—

๐Ÿšธ NEW PEDESTRIAN CROSSWALK SAFETY INITIATIVE ๐Ÿšธ

This morning, the Indialantic Police Department partnered with the Coast Transportation Planning Organization to bring awareness and education to the new marked crosswalk at North Miramar Avenue and Watson Drive.

This crosswalk features Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs). When activated by a pedestrian, the bright flashing lights alert approaching motorists that someone is preparing to cross.

A few important reminders:

๐Ÿšถ Pedestrians: Press the button to activate the beacons, wait for vehicles to stop, look both ways, and remain alert while crossing.

๐Ÿš— Motorists: Slow down, watch for pedestrians, and stop for anyone entering or already within the marked crosswalk. Never pass a vehicle stopped at a crosswalk.

The flashing beacons improve visibilityโ€”but roadway safety still depends on everyone paying attention and following the law.

We thank the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization for partnering with us to promote pedestrian safety in our community.

Yield like their lives depend on itโ€”because they do.

The following directive from Chief MIchael Connor was issued to all Indialantic Police Department personnel today concerning the use of the Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) program utilized by the Indialantic Police Department:

Effective immediately, all Indialantic Police Department personnel are directed to discontinue use of the Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system until further notice.

Personnel shall not access, search, query, or otherwise use the Flock system during this suspension unless specifically authorized by the Chief of Police. All user accounts have been suspended until further notice.

This decision was not made lightly. The Flock ALPR system is a useful law-enforcement tool and an important force multiplier, particularly for an agency of our size.

It has assisted our officers and investigators in investigating multiple major crimes within the Indialantic community.

I have spent several days carefully weighing the advantages and disadvantages of suspending the program, including its proven value to law enforcement and the responsibilities associated with its use.

After considering these factors, I have determined that an immediate suspension is the appropriate course of action at this time.

The suspension will remain in effect until personnel are formally notified otherwise. All officers and staff are expected to comply with this directive.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

On Monday, August 10, 2026, the Indialantic Police Department conducted a bicycle safety course at St. Sebastian By-The-Sea in Melbourne Beach to coincide with the first day of school. The students were from Shoreline Scholars Enrichment.

During the course, basic bicycle safety, helmet fittings and a road safety course, with stop signs and right- and left-hand turns, was given.

The course was conducted by Officer Benjamin Jankowski and his assistants Sergeant Ryan Dovel, Lieutenant Timothy Weber and Chief Connor. The Space Coast Transportation Organization also brought goodies and pamphlets for the students.

On behalf of the Indialantic Police Department, we wish to thank CFO Blaise Ingoglia for his continued support of local law enforcement and our officers serving under the 287(g) Immigration Task Force. His partnership and commitment to public safety strengthens our ability to work alongside federal authorities in addressing illegal immigration, and keeping our community safe.

Chief Mike Connor

This afternoon I was honored to stand with the State of Florida's Chief Financial Officer, Blaise Ingoglia, along with Chief Chris Kuehn of Cocoa Beach Police Department and Chief Mike Connor of Indialantic Police Department regarding immigration enforcement in the state of Florida!!

CFO Ingoglia presented our respective agencies with reimbursement funds from the State Board of Immigration Enforcement. The funds allow our agency to work with local, state, and federal partners through the 287g program to take illegal aliens off of our streets while enforcing the immigration laws of our great nation!!

I want to personally thank CFO Ingoglia and his team for their work to help facilitate this program across the State of Florida as we lead the nation in fighting illegal immigration!!
