We thank our friends at Goose Bay Marina and Campground for their generous donation to our station. Two years ago, the owners reached out to us and said they would like to have a car show that benefited our station. This has been a successful event for three consecutive years. We are extremely fortunate to have such a generous business in our area.

Last Thursday around 830 pm, Fireboat 8 was alerted to assist Fairfax County with a search for two missing kayakers. The kayakers had last been see approximately 30 hours before our boat was requested. Fireboat 8 responded with a crew of 5. After initially checking the Potomac River south to the power lines, the crew then headed north to search along the Maryland shore. The crew then checked Craney Island, which is just north of the Potomac Heights area. Upon approach of the island, our crew spotted two victims waving frantically from a duck blind. The victims were placed on Fireboat 8 and checked for injuries. After ensuring no injuries or major medical concerns, the victims were transported to Fireboat 420 (Fairfax) who then took them back to the Virginia shore where their trip started. Our crew returned to quarters at approximately 1AM.
