Family Links was in action today!

Our School-Based Team had a wonderful opportunity to spend time in the community connecting with children, parents, caregivers, and community partners.

Through interactive activities like our “Take a Bubble Break” exercise, we introduced children to a simple strategy for slowing down, breathing, regulating their emotions, and taking a moment to reset. But the day was about much more than an activity—it was about relationships.

Our school-based work is grounded in the belief that supporting students also means supporting their families, strengthening connections between home, school, and community, and being present in the spaces where families live, learn, and grow.

We’re grateful for every conversation, every child who stopped by, and every family who spent a little time with us today.

What a great day of learning, connection, and wellness at Lapel Elementary School!

Our Family Links school-based team, in partnership with The School Care Team, had the opportunity to spend the day supporting school staff from Pre-K through high school during their Professional Development Day.

Teachers, administrators, counselors, data coaches, speech therapists, and other school professionals rotated through sessions focused on building connection, strengthening classroom culture, and understanding behavior.

In the afternoon, staff were able to recharge through a variety of wellness stations designed to promote relaxation, reflection, and self-care.

We are so grateful for opportunities like this to support the incredible professionals who support students every single day. When we invest in educators and school staff, we strengthen the entire school community.

Schools don’t have to do this work alone.

At Family Links, we believe supporting students means supporting the whole ecosystem around them—students, families, educators, schools, and communities.

Our school-based work brings experienced professionals directly into partnership with schools, districts, and community organizations to help address the behavioral, social-emotional, mental health, and developmental needs that can impact a young person’s ability to thrive.

🎉 Team Family Links deserves a BIG shoutout!

Over the past two weeks, members of our Family Links team successfully completed Six Sigma Yellow Belt Training, earning certifications that strengthen our growing group of team members equipped with tools for continuous improvement, problem-solving, efficiency, and impact.

At Family Links, professional development isn’t just about adding another credential—it’s about strengthening our ability to better serve children, families, schools, and communities. Every new skill and resource our team develops helps us improve the quality and effectiveness of the work we do every day.

We also want to recognize this team for the engagement, commitment, energy, and effort they brought throughout the training. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Family Links was proud to be represented at the Indiana School Health Network Conference, where our own Dr. Megan Kirk, Director of School Partnerships, presented "Why Kids Act Out: Brain Science Meets Practical Strategy" to a room of over 150 school health and mental health professionals! 🧠💙

Dr. Kirk walked attendees through what's really happening in a child's brain during a meltdown, practical co-regulation strategies to use the next day, and a hands-on look at brain science. At the heart of it all was a reminder of the powerful role school health professionals play as the trusted, steady adult in a student's life.

To every nurse, counselor, and health professional who joined us: thank you for your curiosity, your engagement, and the vital work you do every day for Indiana's kids.

We're grateful to ISHN for the opportunity to be part of this year's conference, and proud to have Dr. Kirk representing Family Links and this work so well.

Last week, Family Links had the opportunity to provide Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training to staff from the Allen County Juvenile Center.

This training helps adults who work with young people recognize signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, respond with confidence and compassion, and connect youth to appropriate support.

We’re grateful for the engagement, thoughtfulness, and commitment these staff members brought to the training. Investing in youth-serving professionals helps strengthen the systems of support surrounding young people, especially in spaces where connection, compassion, and early intervention matter most.
