Only Indy can deliver a May like this! U.S. Attorney Wheeler joined Governor Mike Braun, First Lady Maureen Braun, and FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator‑nominee Cameron Hamilton to support public safety coordination for over 350,000 fans at the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. 🏁🏎️

As our nation approaches its 250th birthday, the pre-race ceremony tributes to service and displays of patriotism carried even greater meaning. From the precision of the F‑16 flyover to the Black Hawk leading the pace lap, the brickyard was a powerful backdrop for Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸

We join with all Americans to honor our armed services members who gave all to preserve our freedom and to the families they left behind. We can never repay the debt of gratitude we owe our veterans who have sacrificed so much.

The Hometown Hero award commemorates the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. It honors the enduring ideals of Liberty, Service, and Civic Responsibility. This award is dedicated in recognition of a steadfast commitment to these ideals and an embodiment of the spirit upon which our Nation was founded.

Laurie and Matt are the founders of the Remember Officer Noah Foundation Inc, established in honor of their son, Elwood Police Officer Noah Jacob Shahnavaz, who tragically was killed in the line of duty on July 31st, 2022. Through the Foundation, they work to support law enforcement, strengthen community relationships, and invest in local schools and youth initiatives while continuing Noah’s mission of service to others.

U.S. Attorney Wheeler was honored to present Laurie, Matt, Sarah, and Elijah Shahnavaz with the Hometown Hero Award at our annual awards ceremony in recognition of extraordinary service, devotion to community, and support of law enforcement in carrying forward the mission of Noah Jacob Shahnavaz.

We were pleased to welcome students from The PATH School to our office for a job‑shadow day. Scholars met with AUSAs from our Civil, Criminal, and Appeals Divisions, as well as Administrative staff, to learn more about the U.S. Attorney’s Office and its role in the justice system.

It is always inspiring to see such bright young students engaged in justice and public service! 🌟⚖️
