Pools and Splash Pads Update! Due to the rain we’ve had this week and the rain in the forecast today and this weekend, most Indy Parks pools will be opening on or around May 30. The only outdoor pools open this weekend will be Brookside, Ellenberger, and Northwestway. The heavy storms we saw this week led to runoff that impacted the water testing, which is done with the Marion County Health Department.
We anticipate having 13 pools open next weekend, including our three indoor pools. You can find the list of those pools and our open splash pads on our website here: parks.indy.gov/programs/poolsandsplashpads

DBNS is closed today in honor of Memorial Day and those who have served. We will resume normal operating hours tomorrow, May 26.
Two years ago, we broke ground on what would become a state-of-the-art animal shelter. Today, we celebrated the new shelter with a ribbon cutting. ✂️ Sully the dog—who is available for adoption!—even helped.
The new shelter is more than twice the size of the old one and includes indoor/outdoor kennels, 12 dog runs, two "catios," a medical suite, a hospital-grade surgery room, and so much more. Every measure was taken to ensure the shelter was designed for the animals in Indianapolis Animal Care Services' care. 🐈⬛🐕
We are grateful for everyone who helped make the new shelter possible. It was an honor to oversee this vital project from beginning to end. In many ways, the new shelter seerves as a final parting gift from DBNS to IACS, which is now its own independent agency.
Special shoutout to Mayor Joe Hogsett, the Indianapolis City-County Council, Friends of Indy Animals, AFSCME - Local 725, JS Held, F.A. Wilhelm Construction Company, Inc., krM Architecture+, and all the dedicated staff and volunteers at IACS. We also want to thank the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, Indianapolis Colts, and the Lilly Endowment for their contributions to Friends' capital campaign. This was a joint effort, and today was a day worth celebrating. ❤️
