FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Indiana Parole Board has recommended against clemency for inmate Jeffrey Allen Weisheit, who is scheduled to die by lethal injection on Thursday, November 5th at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.

The recommendation has been delivered to Indiana Gov. Mike Braun, who will make the final determination whether to move forward with the sentence handed down by the court or commute Weisheit’s sentence to life in prison.

Plainfield Correctional Facility recently recognized 72 students who completed a program through Ivy Tech Community College, including education in fields such as business technology, culinary arts, and welding.

The ceremony featured remarks from Dr. Martin Pollio, President of Ivy Tech Community College, and three student speakers who shared their experiences in their respective programs.

Please join us in congratulating our own Kevin Orme, as he was recently presented with the Distinguished Hoosier Award by the Office of Governor Mike Braun!

Mr. Orme currently serves Executive Director of Construction Services for the Indiana Department of Correction, but began his career with the IDOC in 1990 as a correctional officer at Putnamville Correctional Facility.

Orme has held several roles throughout his career, including those in investigations, emergency squads, and safety management. He has served as a correctional sergeant, fire chief, safety manager, and physical plant director.

Orme is also a recipient of the Governor’s Meritorious Service Award, Indiana Sheriffs’ Public Servant of the Year Award, and other local and state honors.

Prior to joining the IDOC, he served in the United States Army and the Indiana National Guard. He holds numerous professional certifications, including Master Firefighter and nationally credentialed Fire Officer, and has served as a fire chief in his community for more than 25 years.

Congratulations, Mr. Orme, and thank you for your unwavering dedication to public service! 🇺🇸
