Indiana American Legion Reaches Veterans and Race Fans Through Indianapolis 500 and Bob & Tom Show Partnership 05/29/2026

What happens when you bring veteran outreach to one of the biggest events in the world?

Throughout the month of May, the Department of Indiana American Legion connected with veterans, service members, families, and race fans at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway through The American Legion's Be the One mission.

The effort culminated on Carb Day, where the American Legion hosted The Bob & Tom Show's live broadcast from the Be the One activation, helping introduce thousands of visitors to the Legion's mission and the resources available to those who served.

From benefits assistance and claims support to meaningful conversations and new connections, the activation demonstrated the importance of meeting veterans where they are.

Read how a month at the Speedway created lasting impact for veterans and families across Indiana and beyond.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selfless commitment to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

Memorial Day is more than the beginning of summer or a long weekend. It is a solemn reminder of the price paid for the liberties we enjoy every day.

Take time today to honor those who gave everything for our nation. Attend a local Memorial Day ceremony, visit a veterans memorial, place a flag, or simply reflect in silence and gratitude. By remembering their sacrifice, we keep their legacy alive for generations to come.
