The nation was attacked at Pearl Harbor 84 years ago today, on Dec. 7, 1941.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt called it "a date which will live in infamy".
Today, we honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.

Winter Home Safety 🌨️
November brings increased safety hazards as colder weather, holiday cooking, and early darkness raise risks of fire, slips, and accidents.
🌨️ Egress pathways:
Keep exits safe by keeping objects (such as decorations and toys) clear of the exit route. Clear both front and rear exit walkways of snow and ice to avoid slips, trips, and falls.
🌨️ Electrical Outlets:
To avoid overloading electrical circuits on Thanksgiving, plug high-wattage kitchen appliances (such as crock pots and warming plates) into separate circuits to prevent tripped breakers or fire hazards. Avoid using power strips; plug appliances directly into the wall. Calculate amperage by using this formula: Watts divided by Volts = Amps. ex. 1500W / 110V = 13.64A.
🌨️ Food safety:
Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold on Thanksgiving. Use a food thermometer to ensure dishes reach safe temperatures and refrigerate leftovers within two hours. Leftovers are safe to eat for 3-4 days when stored properly.
🌨️ Emergency Preparedness:
Maintain a box of essential emergency supplies, including flashlights, extra batteries, and portable power banks for charging phones. In addition to non-perishable food, water, and a manual can opener. A first aid kit, personal hygiene items, and pet food and water should also be included.

On September 28th, we honor Gold Star Mothers and Families who have lost loved ones in military service. The Gold Star represents the profound sacrifice of both service members and their families. Today and every day, we recognize that no one has given more for our nation than these service members and families.
The Army supports these families through Survivor Outreach Services, providing counseling, financial assistance, and continued connection to the military community.

For every Soldier, Patriot Day is a reminder of why we serve. We honor the memory of those who were lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the families who carry their legacy.
Today, we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the heroes who answered the call in the face of unimaginable tragedy. We remember the courage, sacrifice, and resilience that united our nation.
To those who serve and protect, and to the families who carry the memory of loved ones, we stand with you.
