Innovation, inspiration, and entrepreneurial spirit filled the room as Wayne Township Adult Education hosted an unforgettable Shark Tank Entrepreneurship Showcase celebrating eight emerging entrepreneurs.

The evening opened with a welcome from the Superintendent of Wayne Township Schools: “Wayne Township is a community that inspires innovation led by teachers who are dedicated to building GREAT people. Tonight, we are here to witness the work of Dr. Hunt and Mrs. Ellis and their eight entrepreneurs.”

The event highlighted the extraordinary leadership of Dr. Hunt, who leads entrepreneurship instruction for both Wayne Township Adult Education and Matchbook Learning high school students. Through her curriculum, students received instruction from business planning to financial forecasting.

Supporting the experience was the exceptional coaching of, whose mentorship, digital showcase design, and entrepreneurial expertise elevated the evening.

Dr. Hunt recruited an extraordinary lineup of community leaders and business owners as judges:
Kim Baver - Citizen's Bank,
Bernaldo Gutierrez - Bernie's Food Truck,
Pilar Ammons - Fashion and Design Business Owner
Andrea Takase - Promise Town Daycare Owner
Roy Melton - Department of Workforce Development Funder
Adrianne Young - Talk to Tucker
Al Smith - Purpixmedia Owner

The evening celebrated the brilliance and determination of our student entrepreneurs: Janet Williams, Francesca Alcin, Jean Roodley Souffrant, Joseline Vail Molina, Junette Boursiquot, Marcela Canchari, Ronaldson Jean, Sebastien Bassette. Each confidently presented business concepts designed to build generational success.

The evening was expertly hosted by, whose enthusiasm kept the event energized, while the digital showcase designed by added sophistication.

During the award ceremony, recognized the efforts of all participants while awarding two $100 runner-up prizes to Marcella and Francesca. The evening’s top honor — the $500 Shark Tank Award — was earned by, whose business model impressed judges with its scalability. The student who achieved this honor is Junette.

As the evening concluded, reflected on the significance of the program: “We are truly proud to see our Shark Tank Entrepreneurship class launch to equip students with essential income-building strategies.” Christy McIntyre-Gray, Director.

Last week our English class at Monrovia celebrated with their annual International Festival! The students joined with the Monrovia Middle School classes and staff for a joint celebration of the many cultures in the Morgan County area. Haiti, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and many other countries were represented with food, memorabilia, and tasty dishes.

We can't wait for our BDU classes to participate later this week. Stay tuned for more photos!
