Earlier this month, more than 76,000 Hoosier high school seniors received personalized information identifying the Indiana colleges and universities for which they currently qualify. Students also received information about filing the FAFSA, which can help them unlock significant federal and state financial aid toward their education. A record 328 Indiana high schools now offer the Indiana College Core for the 2026–2027 school year, marking a significant expansion in affordable college access statewide. More than 300,000 students can earn up to one year of transferable college credit at little to no cost, strengthening educational pathways and reducing the overall cost of higher education for Hoosier families. Indiana has released an RFI to build on its national leadership in early college credit opportunities for high school students. The RFI will identify providers capable of expanding access to the Indiana College Core and priority CTE courses at no cost to high school students across the state. Indiana currently ranks first in the nation for students completing at least one college course in high school, with the average high school student earning 15 credits – often positioning students within just one to two courses from earning a credential of value. To advance this work—and in response to increasing demand for early college credit—the Indiana Commission for Higher Education has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to identify providers capable of expanding access to the Indiana College Core and priority Career and Technical Education courses at no cost to high school students across the state.
