Sat. Apr 4th Rocky Ripple Easter Egg Hunt/Cake Walk Update: Due to the forecasted rain and possible thunderstorms on Saturday, the Easter Egg Hunt will occur at town hall, rather than Hohlt Park. That way, we can go indoors quickly, if needed. We will hold the egg hunt for kids age 4 and up in the grassy area next to the town hall and will have the hunt inside the town hall for kids under age 4. The egg hunt starts at noon after the Easter Bunny arrives, with the cake walk to follow at 12:45 pm. Thanks to everyone that donated filled eggs so far and to those that are still filling eggs and/or planning to donate cakes for the cake walk. We would not be able to do this without you!

UPDATE: The bin at the town hall has been replenished with plastic eggs for you to take and fill for the Easter Egg Hunt, which is two weeks from tomorrow!

The annual Rocky Ripple Easter Egg Hunt and Cake Walk begins at 12:00 PM at Town Hall on Saturday, April 4th. Kids 12 and under are invited to participate. The Easter Bunny arrives on his Harley promptly at noon and will lead kids on a walk from Town Hall to Hohlt Park to find eggs. After the egg hunt, a cake walk will be held back at Town Hall. Pay 25 cents a round to take your chance at winning a cake! New this year are some beautiful Easter stuffies that will be given away as part of the cake walk (thanks to neighbor, Quinn!).

Please donate plastic filled eggs for the Easter egg hunt! This allows us to keep the event free for the community. It doesn’t take much time to help: Plastic eggs are available to pickup from the Town Hall's front porch, and you can drop off filled eggs to Mandy Redmond (5205 Byram Ave | 317-319-7865). Or, bring them directly to Hohlt Park on the day of the event, Saturday, April 8th, at 10:30 AM.We also need donated cakes for the event! Sweet creations can be dropped off at Town Hall between 9:00 AM and noon on Saturday, April 4th. Or, call Mandy (317-319-7865) to make other arrangements for pickup. If you would like to help hide eggs before the event, meet at Hohlt Park in the pavilion on Saturday, April 4th, at 10:30 AM.

Good snowy morning everyone!
Wanted to give everyone an update on road conditions.
Ely is out working to clear the roads. We have had 7 1/2 inches so far with maybe another 4" coming. With the snow coming down as fast as it is, many of the roads that have already been plowed already have a few inches on them. We took a short trip out of the nieghborhood this morning at 8 AM in a 4 wheel drive and only made it about 1/2 mile before turning around.
If you absolutely must get out, please wait until your road is plowed at least once and take the shortest route to 52nd or 53rd street. To see what roads have been plowed outside the neighborhood and when, use the following link to see where the DPW slow plows have been.

We will post more updates on the page throughout the day.
Stay safe everyone!

Commencing on January 1, 2026, if you are currently in a Republic or WM serviced area, your trash will be collected by Lakeshore Recycling Services (LRS). Ahead of this transition, old WM and Republic carts will be switched out to new carts.

The cart transition for non-DPW serviced districts will commence the week of October 6, 2025. During this week, new carts will be delivered by one of two cart companies concurrently. Over the following two weeks, old carts will be retrieved.

Residents will begin using their new cart immediately once they receive it. It will be serviced moving forward from that time. Residents should NOT place items in their old cart once they receive the new cart – the cart will need to be empty to be removed by the vendor.

For residents with a purchased second cart, you may continue to use it. You will leave just one old cart empty to be removed by the vendor.

On your normal collection day, in the week following receiving your new cart, you will need to place the old, empty cart at the curb in front of your home for recovery, even if not your typical service location. Cart(s) to be serviced should be placed in your typical collection location. The cart vendors will follow behind vendors to take away the old cart on your collection day.

How will the old carts be collected? Vendors will need to break down the old cart to load it on the truck to be hauled away, so this process will take longer than delivery of new carts. If your old cart is not removed during that first week, we ask that you leave it at the curbside location until it is removed.

CEG had a meeting on Friday and below are the steps they will be taking.
1. They are committed to maintaining the current levels of the canal through continued use of our downstream intakes as needed.
2. They believe they have found the primary flow restriction in the canal resulting in the abnormal levels, caused by dense aquatic weeds around 30th st. They are actively cutting weeds there now so they should have more insight next week. they will also be taking some depth measurements to determine if there is excessive sedimentation, or something else not visible at the surface occurring.
3. They will be contracting with Arcadis, a national engineering firm, to evaluate if there is a clear reason that the elevated canals levels are correlated with the observations of water seeping in Rocky Ripple.
4. They are prepared to contract with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, a local firm with Dam and Levee experts, to conduct detailed field studies, as needed, based on the feedback from Arcadis’ review.
The people that had flooding into their basements have been put in touch with the claims department at CEG.
As we get more details, we will make sure to share them with the community.

Good Day-

We have experienced more issues this week with water coming up in some basements near the base of the canal. CEG has lowered the canal water levels and now is pumping the water they need from White River South of Rocky Ripple. They are continuing to clear aquatic vegetation south of Rocky Ripple trying to alleviate some of the high-water issues in this area due to the restricted flow. We are continuing to work with CEG as they evaluate the situation and look for a solution.

We strongly recommend that anyone living along Clarendon Road between 51st and 52nd, 52st Street from Clarendon to the canal, Byram Avenue, 53rd Street from Byram to the canal, Canal Blvd, Karstadt Ave, Sunset Ave, 54th Street from Canal to Ripple Road, Ripple Road from Canal to 54th Street to check your basements and crawl spaces for water that you usually do not have. Also if you have excess water standing in your yard that you do not usually have. See attached picture for map of roads.

If you do not live on one of these streets and have friends that do, please forward this to them. Talk to your neighbors and pass on this information.

It is imperative we reach as many people in these areas as possible to see where there may be issues with excess water that appears to be seeping from the canal.

Please send pictures or videos along with your name and address to [email protected] .

We would like to thank all of the veterans in our community, and across the country, on this special day. We should never take for granted the liberties we enjoy today because of the service and sacrifices made by these valuable members of our community.

Make sure you thank a vet today, and every day, for their service to our country and our neighborhood.

Sincerely,
Rocky Ripple Town Council
