Rivoli Park Labyrinth Indianapolis

Our Story

Thank you to the Focus 2020 initiative of the Peace Learning Center for granting the money to install this labyrinth and to a group of volunteers for placing the brick outline on Indy Do Day, Oct 10, 2013. This reflective space in the Rivoli Park neighborhood on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis, IN is open dawn to dusk, year round. It is located a half block south of the Dollar General on E. 10th Street in the 900 block of N. Kealing Ave. The space is a certified wildlife habitat that especially caters to pollinators. To dedicate the labyrinth, we had a wonderful celebration of the unity in community as we gathered on World Labyrinth Day, the first Saturday in May, in 2014. The pathway is a triune focus design created by John E Ridder of Paxworks: the Labyrinth Shop and modified to allow for rings of native plants by Katherine Ogawa Boyles. A special thanks goes to Dhyana Raynor for her expert help with the installation and conceptualization. When you visit, please record your comments in the log book found in the green box near the entrance to the labyrinth and park in the back of the lot off the alley if possible. The "stumps" provided for sitting in a circles at the front of the lot were originally decorated by children from the LYN (Love Your Neighbor) House and after nature reclaimed the wood after 7 years, new “stumps” have been painted and several feature super heroes. Artists have also shared their talents for the beautification of the space by painting a panel for the art installations that you can enjoy when you visit. We have celebrations throughout the year for World Labyrinth Day in May, the International Day of Peace in September, and the Winter Solstice in December as well as other times as the occasion arises.
