These protections apply in areas such as employment, housing, public accommodations, education, and credit.

Today, the Indiana Civil Rights Commission was proud to partner with the Indianapolis Urban League for a presentation with their New Beginnings Program.
Our team shared an overview of ICRC’s work and how we serve Hoosiers across the state, followed by a discussion on alternative dispute resolution and how mediation can help resolve discrimination complaints in a fair and timely way.
Thank you to Scott Kreider, Nicole Owens, and Debra Bluitt for leading today’s conversation and to the Indianapolis Urban League for the opportunity to connect, educate, and empower.
We are grateful to be part of conversations that strengthen communities and expand access to resources across Indiana!

There are many misconceptions about housing discrimination.
Landlords cannot refuse to rent for unlawful reasons.
Reasonable accommodations can be requested when needed.
And filing deadlines are based on when the alleged act of discrimination occurred, not whether you have moved.
Indiana law protects individuals in housing based on specific characteristics.
