The Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library aims to encourage veterans to use art to tell their story. We hope to educate and to engage others in conversation.

Welcome to the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library's Reclaiming Armistice Day Page! This page engages the community to learn about our Veterans' programs. Through our programs we encourage veterans to use art and art therapy to tell their story. With this page, we hope to reach out to veterans and to engage the community to better understand our soldiers coming home. Please like, comment and ask questions.

Come join us on September 22nd for Night of Vonnegut! We’ll unveil our plans for 2022 in celebration of Vonnegut’s 100th birthday.

Night of Vonnegut features Kurt and Jane Vonnegut’s daughter, Edith Vonnegut. Edie is an award-winning artist who has exhibited in galleries all across the United States. She’s written and illustrated the book “Domestic Goddesses” and has served as a contributing illustrator to The New York Times, Pl***oy, and the Franklin Mint. We’re happy to have Edie speak and present her beautifully thoughtful environmental artwork at this year’s Night of Vonnegut.

Our night also includes appearances by KVML's Chairperson of the Year, Drew DeSimone, Mayor Joe Hogsett, KVML’s Free Speech Ambassador Sophie Maurer, and IUPUI Professor and expert on the Anthropocene, Jason Kelly.

To conclude this exciting night, there will be a pre-release screening of Bob Weide and Don Argott’s documentary “Kurt Vonnegut: Unstuck in Time.” Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0aU77BxdZE

Night of Vonnegut is a night you won’t want to miss. Get your tickets today at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/night-of-vonnegut-tickets-158750223191

Seriously we are asking people to give only $5. Our goal is to get as many people as possible and that also puts us in the running for bonus money from Community Thrives. You’re welcome to give more than $5 but even just $5 helps us a whole bunch. At noon on Monday, please give! And please sure and encourage friends to give $5 to help support our planning of 2022’s programs in honor of Vonnegut’s 100th birthday!!!

On Monday, July 19 at 12:00 pm KVML will kick off A Community Thrives Campaign. Please check out our page and help us reach our goal of $8,130. We would love to see how many people our campaign can reach! Please consider donating $5 to our campaign to support our educational programming benefiting students, teachers, veterans, prisoners, and you. When our campaign opens on Monday, please share with your networks.
