✔️ Population growth 5x the city average
✔️ Millions of bike rides, connections, and memories made along the way

Today, we're kicking off our 20th anniversary celebrations with a new impact report that tells the story of what the Trail has meant for Indianapolis.

April showers bring May flowers ☔️

🌱 This week, you'll start to see more blooms across the Trail, including Eastern Bluestar (Amsonia tabernaemontana), a native perennial known for its rare “botanical blue” flowers and its importance to butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. 🐝

🚿 Our irrigation system is also officially back on for the season. If you ever notice water spraying or heavy pooling along the Trail, please help us out by reporting it here: indyculturaltrail.org/contact. 📧

🧤 Over the past two months, volunteers helped mulch nearly the entire Indianapolis Cultural Trail (230 cubic yards), giving thousands of native plants a healthy start for the growing season ahead. 💪

Thanks to every volunteer who helped keep the Cultural Trail gardens healthy, vibrant, and thriving this spring.

The sounds of Indiana Ave without trending audio 🔈

Did you know that you can immerse yourself in the rich musical heritage of Indiana Avenue as part of our free public art installation along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick?

Established in 2024, the Indiana Ave Sound Experience pays tribute to the golden era of Indiana Avenue. Known as “The Avenue” during the 20th century, this area was home to numerous jazz and R&B clubs showcasing legendary musicians like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and many more. It also spotlighted Indianapolis legends such as Wes Montgomery, Freddie Hubbard, and the Hampton family.

The Indiana Ave Sound Experience honors the musicians, teachers, promoters, label executives, and crews with roots in this iconic neighborhood. By featuring their work in this permanent sound exhibit, we celebrate their influence on Indianapolis’s culture and their contributions to music worldwide.

Playlists are inspired by WFYI's "Echoes of Indiana Ave,” co-produced by Kyle Long and Herman “Butch” Slaughter, blending historical insights with artistic expression.

➡️ Learn more about this unique public art installation on our website: http://indyculturaltrail.org/art

➡️ Visit this work of art for yourself by visiting the stretch of the Indy Cultural Trail outside the Madam Walker Legacy Center.
