Drs. Sara Brown, Emily Fitz and Lindsay Zimmerman join State Rep. Julie McGuire on the signing of HB1271. This bill assists healthcare providers in the recovery of reimbursement and requires hospitals to make patients aware of any payment assistance available. INACEP, Indiana State Medical Association, Indiana Rural Health Association and Indiana Hospital Association were also supportive of these measures.

While part of INACEP's leadership team was meeting with federal elected officials, there was plenty of work to be done right here at home. Drs. Sara Brown, Emily Fitz and Lindsay Zimmerman discuss workplace safety in the ED with the Governor as well as important reimbursement concerns.

SHOEMAKER FOR ACEP President Elect

We could not be more proud of our Indiana colleague Jamie Shoemaker and his announcement of candidacy for ACEP's president elect. Let's go Jamie - you've got this!

See his message below:

I’m honored to officially announce my candidacy for President-Elect of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

This moment is both humbling and energizing. Emergency medicine has given me purpose, community, and the opportunity to serve patients when they need us most. I’m excited for the opportunity to give back by helping lead our specialty forward during a critical time.

Over the past six years serving on the ACEP Board of Directors, along with my work as an AMA RUC Alternate and co-developer of the Independent EM Group Master Class, I’ve been deeply engaged in the challenges and opportunities facing our profession. These experiences have shaped my commitment to meaningful, results-driven advocacy.

My focus is clear — advancing the “Four Corners” of Emergency Medicine:
• Reimbursement that reflects our value
• A sustainable and supported workforce
• A strong, engaged membership
• Safer emergency departments for physicians and patients

Emergency medicine is at an inflection point. We need experienced, steady leadership that listens, unites, and delivers.

I’m ready to do that work — together.
