Karol Redondo-Ponce didn’t always feel confident sharing her ideas. Like many students, she once second-guessed her voice. That began to change inside the Writing Center at Shortridge High School, where encouragement and honest feedback helped her grow.
Now, the 17-year-old senior is headed to Columbia University, where she plans to study biochemistry on the pre-med track to become an OB/GYN.

Shortridge High School, an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, embraces rigorous and inclusive preparatory education that provides a global perspective through the IB curriculum. Additionally, the Career-Related Studies Programme (CP) has increased access to the IB for ALL model, further broadening the horizons for our students in practical, career-oriented pathways. These accomplishments are bolstered by strategic partnerships, such as the one with Butler University's Jordan College of the Arts, which enriches our students' educational experiences and prepares them for diverse post-secondary opportunities. Shortridge High School's commitment to providing an inclusive, challenging, and diverse academic experience through the IB Programme is preparing its students for college and a global society.

Big things are happening for future healthcare leaders! 🩺✨
Shortridge High School's HOSA-Future Health Professionals group participated in the Indiana HOSA State Leadership Conference (SLC), where students from across the state gather to test their medical knowledge, sharpen their leadership skills, and network with healthcare professionals.
From clinical skills and medical terminology to hands-on patient simulations, students stepped up to test their healthcare skills.

Shortridge High School boys basketball team is turning heads.
“I think we’re a good team because we have a lot of players that people didn’t believe in,” Shortridge's Elijah Wilson said. “A lot of us didn’t have an opportunity to prove what we could bring. At Shortridge, we all have a chance to go there and show what we got.”

On Wednesday, Indiana legislators, city leaders and community partners visited Shortridge High School to learn more about Indiana's only International Baccalaureate high school and the impacts of the initiative. Students shared their experiences and led a tour of the school.
