After yesterday's incident that caused IMU Fiber TV customers to be without service, we wanted to share a quick update on exactly what happened.
🕒 12:06 PM: We began receiving network alerts and phone calls, prompting an immediate investigation.
🕒 1:00 PM: We determined there was likely a cut fiber. Pella's fiber utility located a third-party contractor boring in the suspected area.
🕒 1:15 PM: Emergency locates were submitted so crews could safely begin repairs.
🕒 3:45 PM: Locates cleared and digging began. Crews found that the bore rig had snagged and pulled the fiber, requiring additional excavation to assess the damage.
🕒 5:30 PM: Crews began splicing in the new portion of fiber.
🕒 7:05 PM: All IMU Fiber TV services were fully restored.
We appreciate our customers' patience and understanding while our teams worked to get things back up and running!
⚠️ This event is an important reminder: always follow Iowa One Call guidelines and dial 811 to request utility locates before any digging or boring projects.
