Thanks to everyone who came out for our Family DIY Haunted Birdhouses event last night! This type of community event promotes quality time with friends and family, building the critical foundation for a child's brain development, school readiness, and emotional well-being, along with offering creative opportunities to build on those oh-so-important motor skills. The last day to use an Adventure Pass for the Des Moines Children's Museum will be October 24. The Children's Museum will be moving to a temporary space in the future, but the location is yet unknown. Read Des Moines Children's Museum post for more information.

Yes, you are allowed to play with your food at the library! Last Friday we hosted Butter Together with presenter, Sarah Pratt, official Iowa State Fair Butter Sculptor. Many dogs were chiseled, as well as a book, a cake, some lovely hills, and, for the first time ever, a carved Sarah Pratt, crafted by a delighted attendee. Thank you to Humanities Iowa for sponsoring!

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and Adult Services Librarian Jacy West had a great time meeting Simpson students and connecting them with IPL’s resources.
