Desert Recreation District Desert Recreation District is a Special Government District in the Coachella Valley

Desert Recreation District maintains quality park and recreation facilities; programs and services; and facilitates leisure opportunities for residents to access:

• Personal Benefits in the form of physical fitness, enrichment, relaxation, and revitalization;
• Social Benefits in the form of stronger and healthier families; ethnic and cultural
harmony; reduced anti-social behavior; and enriched lives for persons with disabilities;

Volunteer and make a Difference! ACEing Autism is a nationwide nonprofit organization on a mission for children with autism to grow, develop and benefit from social connections and fitness through affordable tennis programming.

They are looking for volunteers for their local program in Palm Desert.

No tennis experience is required, and volunteers receive on-site training and support. Volunteers ages 13 and up are welcome, including high school students, college students, retirees, and community members of all backgrounds.

Program Details:
Location: The Westin Tennis Courts (71777 Dinah Shore Dr, Rancho Mirage, CA)
Dates: Saturdays: November 7, 14, 21, December 5, 12, 19
Time: 9:00-10:00 am

Volunteers work directly with participants on court and see firsthand the positive impact they make on children and families. ACEing Autism programs vary by location, with some operating seasonally or multiple times per year.

Our 5th Annual Día de los Mu***os event is coming to Thermal on November 2nd.

Join us in honoring the lives of those who are no longer with us. We will be providing refreshments, snacks, and themed activities. This event is for the whole family! Altar will be up the whole month of November during program hours

Nuestro quinto evento anual del Día de los Mu***os llegará a Thermal el 2 de noviembre.

Technology powers recreation, too. Desert Recreation District's Information Technology team supports registration, events, facilities, and customer service with the technology that helps connect our communities.

We followed Jonathan Walsh (DRD's Information Systems Manager) and his team Vince Limon (Information Systems Administrator) and Carlos Aceves-Sotelo (Information Systems Technician II) to witness the IS team in action. That's DRD!
