Our first Cloverbuds meeting of the year was a success!🎃🍀

Our Cloverbuds kicked off their 4-H adventure with some fall fun! We learned all about how pumpkins grow then visited our mini pumpkin patch to choose their own pumpkin, got creative with pumpkin painting, enjoyed a fun game and whipped up a delicious snack!

We’re so excited for a year of 4-H fun! See you next month!!

🍕That’s a wrap on From Flour to Flavor!🍕

After three successful sessions and more than 100 registrants, it’s safe to say our community was ready to make some pizza!

From adults to teens, participants got hands-on experience making pizza from scratch while learning about fermented dough, locally sourced ingredients, home gardening, nutrition, and more.

We’re so thankful for the incredible response to this program and for everyone who joined us and helped make From Flour to Flavor such a success!

After a turnout like this, who knows what we’ll cook up next! 👀🍕

🍕From Flour to Flavor… for Teens!🍕

After two fantastic adult sessions earlier this month, we brought our popular From Flour to Flavor workshop back for a special teen edition and they did an awesome job!

Our teens got hands-on experience making their own pizzas from scratch while learning where their food comes from along the way. Participants learned about locally sourcing fresh ingredients, growing ingredients at home, the history of pizza, creating fresh fermented dough, and using wholesome ingredients to turn a favorite food into a nutritious meal.

Of course, the best part was putting it all together, baking their pizzas, and enjoying the results!

🏹 NEW: Wild Game Cooking Series Cookbook! 🍽️🦌🦃

We’re excited to introduce our Wild Game Cooking Series Cookbook, created to accompany our hands-on Wild Game Cooking Series programs continuing each month through December!

This isn’t just a collection of recipes. We wanted to create a resource that helps hunters and families make better use of their harvest, from field to table.

Inside you’ll find 30+ wild game recipes featuring squirrel, rabbit, wild turkey, quail, grouse, duck, goose, venison, elk, black bear and more! From traditional favorites to recipes with a modern twist, you’ll find excellent ways to surprise your whole family with exciting wild game dishes.

The cookbook goes beyond recipes, too. It includes educational information on hunter education and hunting regulations, safe handling and preparation, inspecting harvested meat for shot and bone fragments, proper freezing and storage, recommended cooking temperatures, black bear and trichinellosis food safety, meat processing, summer sausage preparation, and ways to customize your summer sausage with high-temperature cheeses, peppers and other additions.

Want a copy? Stop by the Martin County Cooperative Extension Service! Pick one up, try some new recipes, and then join us for one of our remaining Wild Game Cooking Series classes through December.
