After 25 years, we still remember.

On Patriot Day, we pay tribute to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, along with the families and communities deeply affected by the tragedy.

We honor the firefighters and emergency responders who rushed towards danger to assist others, many sacrificing their own lives. Their bravery and dedication continue to influence the fire service and inspire how we respond today.

We will always remember.

🐾Sometimes the best support has four paws.

For National Dog Day, we’re highlighting some of the therapy dogs who have visited our personnel at the Ione Training Center.

Firefighting training is demanding work, and taking care of the people behind the scenes is just as important as the work itself. These visits provide a moment to pause, reset and connect, helping support the mental health and overall well-being of our personnel during challenging assignments.

We’re grateful to the organizations and handlers who make these visits possible and to the dogs who show up ready to do what they do best.

🔥 Three generations of CAL FIRE.

Last week at Ione’s Company Officer Academy graduation, Dylan Jones became the third generation in his family to join CAL FIRE. His father, Deputy Chief Steve Jones, pinned him, as his grandfather Jeff Jones, a former Northern Region Assistant Chief, watched.

Generational CAL FIRE families are nothing new. Across the department, generations have followed generations into a career of service, each bringing their own experience and story to the job.

✨ BUILDING THE NEXT GENERATION: CAPTAIN JESSICA ELLIS AT CAMP CINDER ✨

We are incredibly proud to highlight Fire Captain Jessica Ellis from the Redding Training Center. Captain Ellis recently traveled to San Luis Obispo to mentor, inspire, and train the next generation of firefighters at Camp Cinder.

Camp Cinder is a transformative experience for young women. It offers them hands-on exposure to the fire service, building confidence, introducing essential skills, and showing them that the fire service is a path where they can truly thrive.

For young women considering a career in the fire service, seeing role models like Captain Ellis is vital. Her expertise, leadership, and dedication demonstrate that there is absolutely a place for them in this profession. By sharing her knowledge, she is helping to pave the way for the future of our department.

Thank you, Captain Ellis, for your dedication to the future of the fire service. You are proving that with hard work and determination, the sky is the limit.
