Star of Life Challenge accepted!
Thank you Area Ambulance Service for the nomination. :)

The Star of Life is the official symbol of EMS. It represents prehospital medicine through healing and renewal. The six points of the star can also represent the six points in the Chain of Survival.

Spread the word about the importance of bystander Hands-Only CPR and AED use to increase survival from sudden cardiac arrest.

We will keep this challenge alive by nominating Iowa City Public Safety (ICFD) , Iowa County EMS, West Des Moines Emergency Medical Services and MEDIC EMS of Scott County.

October 20 is Election Hero Day. We join the League of Women Voters Johnson County Iowa, in thanking the people who make our elections possible.

From preparing polling locations and helping voters to processing ballots and maintaining accurate voter records, election workers put in a lot of work before, during and after Election Day to keep things running smoothly.

Thank you to all our poll workers and election staff in the Johnson County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Office for your time and dedication.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Jail opened in 1981, when the building was designed for 50 staff members and the county had 80,000 residents. Today, the sheriff’s office has 112 staff members and Johnson County's population has grown to 160,000.

The Sheriff’s Office does more than run the jail. The building also houses patrol, investigations, reserves, civil, records and administration. Over the years, staffing and operations have grown, but the current building layout hasn’t changed, causing space and workflow challenges for staff.

The proposed 118,500-square-foot facility would dedicate about 55% of the space to the Sheriff’s Office and 45% to the jail. Visit https://www.johnsoncountyjailbond.com/theproposal to learn more.
