📢New Publication Alert: Rangelands as Adaptation Reserves, Not Carbon Units

Rangelands are complex, variable systems, and that variability may be one of their greatest strengths.

A new publication challenges the idea of managing rangelands primarily around standardized carbon outcomes. Instead, the authors propose viewing rangelands as“adaptation reserves,” where landscape diversity, flexible management, interacting disturbances, and collaborative networks help maintain the capacity to respond as conditions change.

For landowners and natural resource professionals, the publication offers a thought-provoking perspective on grazing management, soil carbon, resilience, and the future of working lands.
