OPES will offer an open, welcoming environment that encourages collaboration and communication between school, parents, community and students. Parents, teachers, students, and the community will work together to grow partnerships which support learners. By consciously infusing character building into the life of our school, we will prepare our students to be responsible, productive members of our community. Oak Pointe will provide an environment that fosters critical thinking through character education. Educational decisions will be data-driven and responsive to the needs of our entire learning community. Differentiated instruction is centered on children’s needs and interests. Our classroom environments provide engaging, individualized, rigorous, and purposeful learning. All members of the OPES community will continue to guide each student to his or her fullest potential. Educators will address the needs of individual learners through differentiated instruction in an inclusive environment. Student success will be enhanced by nurturing environments that support multiculturalism and diverse learners. OPES will integrate technology to enhance instruction, making it practical and relevant to the real world. Daily use of technology across all instructional areas will teach, engage, and communicate content. We will continue to utilize cutting edge technology, including assistive technology, to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners. Students at Oak Pointe will continue to engage in authentic and purposeful learning by seeing themselves in expert roles, such as scientists, mathematicians, historians, writers, artists, etc. The students’ needs and interests will be met through an inquiry-based approach, where students will be encouraged to take ownership of their learning by questioning, wondering, and investigating.
