Throughout my 26 years in law enforcement, I have learned just how valuable the relationships are that we build with the men and women of our local fire and EMS services. Don was one of those people who made that relationship truly special and irreplaceable.
Through his years of service with the Arcadia Valley Ambulance District and the Pilot K**b Volunteer Fire Department, Don dedicated himself to helping others and serving our community. Whether we were working together on an emergency scene or simply crossing paths, you could always count on Don for his candid personality, quick wit, and a joke that usually came at just the right time. He had a way of bringing a smile and some much-needed humor even during difficult situations.
Over the years, Don became much more than someone we worked alongside. He was a friend and a valued member of our public safety family. His presence, his humor, and the relationships he built over a lifetime of service cannot simply be replaced.
Don’s passing leaves a tremendous void in the Arcadia Valley community, and he will surely be missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
My thoughts and prayers are with Don’s family, friends, and his brothers and sisters in EMS and the fire service as they mourn his loss.
Thank you for your service, Don. Thank you for the laughs, the friendship, and the memories.
While Don has been retired for many years, he was still a true public servant that was always willing to lend a hand.
Rest easy, Don. We’ll take it from here.
