Connecting with the Community! 🌟

Over the past few weeks, my team and I have had the privilege of engaging with inspiring leaders and community members. We’ve had productive discussions with Mayor Robert Pequeno, connected with Nathan Gopen from The Story of Irvine documentary, and interacted with Bindya and Bineeta from BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir – Chino Hills, as well as Tom Charron of CalRCV.

These conversations reinforce our shared commitment to building a vibrant and inclusive Irvine. Thank you to everyone for your dedication and efforts to make our city a better place for all!

We had the best time celebrating the Irvine Korean Parents Association & Volunteer Committee (IKPAVC) at their 2025-26 banquet! For nearly two decades, this amazing group has been making Irvine a better place. Congratulations to the student leaders and parent volunteers who logged hundreds of hours this school year. Thank you, IKPAVC, for keeping our community so vibrant, caring, and connected! 🎉

As June begins, we want to thank everyone who participated in the third annual Pride in Irvine event on May 22. Together, we raised the Progress Flag in support of the LGBTQIA+ community during Pride Month. It was inspiring to see community members come together to learn, connect, and celebrate diversity. We also took a moment to honor Harvey Milk’s legacy and the ongoing fight for equality and inclusion.

Thank you for being part of this meaningful celebration. Learn more at cityofirvine.org/pride.

The City of Irvine proudly recognizes AAPI Heritage Month this May, celebrating the rich contributions and vibrant cultures of the diverse AANHPI community that shapes our city across art, science, and more. Irvine’s reputation as a thoroughly integrated community makes this acknowledgment especially meaningful. Our office was also pleased to attend Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California’s “Understanding Orange County” convening, where community, civic, academic, and nonprofit leaders discussed regional trends and AAPI rights advocacy. Thank you to all the speakers and organizers for the thoughtful conversation.

Dropped by the Katie Wheeler Library to say hello to our wonderful Irvine Public Library staff! A big thank you to the team for making this historic library such a welcoming, valuable space for everyone. They are doing fantastic work every day to support the Irvine community — handling everything from updating our tech and ordering new materials to keeping a great collection of books and media ready for readers. On top of that, they’re bringing neighbors together through innovative programs like the Library of Things, as well as community events and Storytimes that spark curiosity.
