The CERT program is about readiness, people helping people, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number.
The CERT concept was developed and implemented by the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 1985. The Whittier Narrows earthquake in 1987 underscored the area-wide threat of a major disaster in California. Further, it confirmed the need for training civilians to meet their immediate needs. Today marks our final day of the vaccination clinics at the Great Park since the site was opened in late April.
We owe our Irvine CERT members a huge thank you for supporting the effort as rockstar volunteers. Thank you to each of you for supporting the operation rain or shine or 100 degree sunny day!
