What's happening in the ECMS Agriculture Program? Well, we're building a program, step-by-step!
Latest addition to our outdoor area, and a much-needed improvement. We'll have it looking like it fits right in with a little landscaping project!
PS: Isn't that the coolest little piece of equipment?! Wiggled the building right into the perfect spot!

Friday was "Farming isn't just a 9-to-5 Job!" so we celebrated with a Dolly theme for the day! Ag classes also were visited by local 4H Agent Erin Short Leach , who shared information about Youth programming and opportunities offered through 4H. Unfortunately, Ag & NatRes agent Abby Keeton was unable to join us,but we'll catch up with her soon.
Check out all the photos from Friday, plus earlier in the week!

Thursday was a wonderful day at South Irvine! Estill Middle Ag students read "Diary of a Worm", helped make macaroni necklaces like Worm, and made each student their our own dirt cake with worms! We may have even shared some recess time! Thank you Mrs. Tess Dixon for coordinating with us, and all the teachers & staff at SI for letting us share All In For Ag Week! Also, huge thanks to Mrs. Carroll and Ms. Karlie Patrick who helped everything run a little (a lot!) smoother!

Who left the gate open?!
ECMS was overrun with livestock!
Ag students prepared treats, and gave every student & staff a Cow Tale, which included an Ag Fact to celebrate All in For Ag Week!
Remember, Thursday is Flannel Day!

Dress like a Farmer Day, with lunch for our ECMS staff who support our Ag Department & FFA members!
Thank God for the farmers, who produce the food, fuel, and fiber that provide the quality of life we enjoy here in America every day!
Don't forget Ag Career Day outfits for tomorrow--mechanics, gardeners, equipment salesmen, florists, welders, animal care, wildlife careers--if you can dream it, wear it Wednesday!

All In For Ag Week started off with Blue/Gold Day! Wonderful to see all of the students so proud to wear their FFA Chapter shirts. And what about that ECMS Staff?!! About 90% of our ADULTS were rocking an FFA t-shirt or blue/gold today!! 💙💛
Again, I failed to take pictures --but thanks to a teacher meeting, was able to catch a lot of them after school!
Thankful for the cotton producers, and all the hands along the way who form our clothing and other natural fiber materials! 👕🧦👖
Dress like a farmer for Tuesday, and be prepared for pictures!

What a great program!
ECMS Ag students, with help from our Maintenance Dept, took out 4-5 last year and created our raised bed garden area. See photo in comments!
Help eradicate these terrible invasive trees, and restore native species or productive areas!

Come join us anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on October 15th–16th!

Bring a photo showing that you have removed a Bradford pear tree from your property and receive a replacement tree whip to plant in its place.

Help us reduce the spread of Bradford pears and replace them with better, more beneficial tree options!

Call the Estill County Extension Office at (606) 723-4557 to register.
